Ιn 2008 Liakos and Associate Architects was appointed to renovate the abandoned Aqua Blu Hotel, in Kos. This was the first remodeling of the property since 1980. Initially, the building is excreted, revealing its organism and its pathogens. The extensive deterioration, which was discovered, required extensive refinement operations.

On the ground floor of the hotel it was proposed to accommodate the reception, the restaurant and the bar, looking for easy access to these areas, both by hotel users and by community visitors. The design challenge in this project was to design a new cozy boutique hotel which will offer executive services to vacation and business oriented guests.

The treatment of the uniform facades is straightforward: they are fully glazed yet discreetly concealed by wooden shutter-blinds. The design team embarked on a metamorphosis to add sparkle, elegance, and contemporary luxury in order to create a new and exciting interior image, utilizing modern furniture and decor. An aquatic blue atmospheric effect was created by pools and water features that surround the building and enhanced by special lighting which offer a vibrant atmosphere during night time.
